Most of the dream I was in a basketball court playing. My team was me, Michael Jordan, LeBron James. The other team had Larry Bird, Kobe Bryant, Dan Majerle, and someone else. Jordan was urging me to dunk. So I did. And it worked. I had never dunked before but always wanted to. Two handed dunk. I proceeded to do it again and again. Sometimes with a nerf basketball. Sometimes a normal one. One of the plays had me under the hoop, and there was a kid on my team there too. We both had defenders. He was a small jewish boy, maybe 13. I set a pick for him and he looked at me confused. He must have known enough to be out there, but not the fundamentals or strategy. I told him about picks and what to do. I was a little irritated. Then the dream went to slightly off court, and there was a department store aisle set up with toys like I remember at Kohl’s or Target as a kid. There were other young people looking around. I was young too like them, but I was also me in my mind now. And someone said, ‘Chris Beck (that’s me) never held any records or awards in basketball’. I did actually win a few trophies. Then he said, ‘He (I) averaged 5 points a game and 12 rebounds… but Brandon Fletcher had the award for most improved.’ I’m trying to remember who Brandon Fletcher was to me. But in the dream I registered it as one of my schoolmates. Someone who was weaker and not as good at basketball, so it was considered an insult to bring it up. Then the dream went to another part of the department store and I was working, older, thinking about that conversation. Then a woman I used to work with came up to me. In a work context, not wanting to talk to me like friends. I said something about wanting to tell her how upset I was or how things hadn’t worked out for me in life, but I didn’t feel it was appropriate at that time to do so. I had bought something and was walking past a register, but I tried to avoid security sensors because I thought I would be accused of stealing even though I bought the item. Then I had to go to the bathroom. So I went to the one store bathroom and as I walked in (there was no door) I saw some personal effects on the floor piled up. I decided to leave and look for another bathroom. Then I was looking down the staircase of an old wooden basement. In the basement was an artificial Christmas tree set up. I noticed there were wet spiderweb strands glistening off of the tree and some of the needles were caught in the strands. A woman’s voice from a 1950s movie or commercial spoke to me and said how wonderful it was to have gossamer on the tree, and that I should get some more. Then I was back in the department store going to another bathroom. And when I went in, this bathroom had even more personal effects. All child’s items. And as I looked I saw a little girl (I’m male) standing near the front of the entrance looking at me. She was maybe 4 years old. She had on a knit sweater of indiscriminate color and a set of purple leggings. She held a large purple stuffed animal in one hand. The stuffed toy was big enough to rest on the floor while she held it. And next to her was a packed rolling suitcase, as if she were about to leave for a trip. She wasn’t frightening at all, she just sat there. Then I woke up and went to the bathroom.
